Not your average job…

I sit at a desk.

Well… kind of. I bought a bright, lime-green, exercise-ball, chair thing- whatever you call them. So, actually, I bounce at a desk.

But I just laugh with Papa every day and roll my eyes at how crazy, funny, hilarious He is.

I remember being 22, sitting on a mountain in Jamaica and asking God what my future looked like. I had a pit of anxiety within me and the future looked so dim. At the time, so many people in my community kept speaking missions over my life.

“You’re going to be a missionary, I see it.”

THAT was terrifying. Because THAT meant giving up a lot of dreams that I had and stepping out of my comfort zone in a grand way that was too daunting to even touch with the tip of my pinky toe.

I had just quit my desk job at Gallup and given up my business degree in pursuit of teaching instead. I remember sitting in my accounting 3 class, overwhelmed at the thought of sitting at a desk for the rest of my life.

So I quit my desk job, switched my major, bought a funky skirt and headed to Jamaica to love on some sweet, sweet children and live the simple life for a week.

And then…. ask God what He thought I should do next.

One thing led to another, and over the years I discovered the World Race, pursued the World Race, WENT on the World Race and did the simple, missional life for a year. And that missional life continues, thanks to some really beautiful people who poured into me and showed me that missional life is actually just life.

And now? I sit (bounce) at a desk.

Each day I get to tell my story to a new participant. Whether it’s someone who is going on the race, or their parent who is overjoyed to visit their racer on the field after 8 months of physical distance. So, so sweet.

Last week I lost sight of what I do for a moment.

I went back to my 22 year old self’s way of thinking and looked at my job from the surface. I sit at a desk. I was feeling stuck, confined, uncomfortable, frustrated.

But during Monday morning worship that morning, Papa cupped my face and said “you reach the nations.”

Adventures in Missions currently has 740 missionaries in 19 nations.

Papa revealed to me that each person I talk to on the daily will go to 11 nations, and I am the one who gets to help them get there. Here I am, doing both things that I tried so hard to run away from. The missionary who sits at a desk.

#LOL at His paradox.

He showed me the world, and just like He says in Matthew, He revealed the bright lights that spread all over the nations. The whole world was BEAMING with bright lights.

He revealed to me that just as Abraham gazed at the stars in wonder thousands of years ago, the stars gaze at us each night in wonder too.

Your legacy goes far beyond you.

Even if you sit at a desk.

the people living in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

Matthew 4:16

I still need to raise $250 more per month in financial support for my position with Adventures in Missions. That is roughly 5 people per month! Here’s the breakdown of how I can reach my goal!

$100/month- 1 person

$50/month- 2 people

$25/month- 2 people

If you would like to join my support team and partner with me in reaching the nations, click the “donate” button at the top of this page and follow the giving instructions.

Thank you for any and all support in all forms. Prayer, encouragement, financial, friendship, it all means the world!
